We travelled to Portugal to see first hand that the artisans are paid fairly, working conditions are safe and the quality exceptional. Designs are made by combining the traditional skills of Portuguese artisans with laser cut technology.

Cork is a strong and durable material that is comparable to leather- only better for the planet! Plus, it's 3x lighter than leather & stain and water resistant.

Sustainably Sourced Cork

Cork trees are stripped, not cut down during harvesting, absorbing up to 5x more CO2 as the cork regenerates. The cork used to make KOBI products is FSC certified (responsibly harvested) and high quality as it is stripped from trees at least 43 years old. 

Look Good, Feel Good

Sustainability is more than using a natural material, it's about leaving something behind for future generations. For every KOBI product purchased a cork tree will be planted in Portugal! Thanks to our partnership with Portuguese environmental organisation Quercus, you will receive a unique code to register your tree and receive updates on the forest you helped contribute towards.

No, trees are stripped not cut down during harvesting. The process of stripping cork trees is highly specialised and done by hand so as not to damage the trees. 

Are cork handbags and wallets water resistant?

Yes, so donā€™t worry if you get caught in the rain with your KOBI! To be extra careful, remove excess water once indoors. 

Are cork handbags and wallets stain resistant?

Yes, however with time dirt may collect on your handbag. To clean your handbag, wipe the cork in circular motions using a soft soap and warm damp cloth.

Cork is a durable and supple material. Its wear over time can be compared to other organic materials such as leather. The more you use cork the softer it feels to touch!
